Truly a life-changing experience! In the heart of Polynesia, Mounu Island—meaning “little fish”—is a small 7 acre private island in Vava’u Tonga. While the island is small, it is surrounded by some of the biggest creatures on the planet, the stunning humpback whales!

Whale swimming season runs from June to November, but the island’s beauty shines year-round. Enjoy the calm peaceful bliss of the island during the “whale off-season” December to May.

Mounu welcomes you the Tongan way: like family. Our special island is an eco-friendly resort supported by solar panels and natural rain water. With just a few traditional Tongan style fales (bungalows), you are invited to unplug from the world and reconnect with nature.
